HP Designjet 500 and 800 Series Printers - TWI: System Error 03:10

In this document:

Error 03:10 indicates a Power supply failure in the printer. Causes of this error can vary from a poor main power source, to cable connections, a faulty power cable, or the printer's Power supply or Electronics module. Follow the steps listed below to determine the actual cause of the error and to replace the necessary parts.

Troubleshooting stepsback to table of contents

If any of the troubleshooting steps listed below solve the problem, attempt to verify printer functionality (as instructed below). If functionality is verified, no additional parts should be replaced.

    1. Turn the printer off, then on to verify error. If no errors, attempt to verify functionality.
    2. If the error appears or problems persist, continue with the remaining steps.
    3. Reseat the power cord on both ends.
    4. Disconnect the printer from any devices such as a universal power supply or surge protector and connect it directly to the power outlet.
    5. Turn the printer on, if the problem persists continue with the remaining steps.
    6. Try a different power cord, and if unsuccessful a different wall outlet (if possible).
    1. If the problem persists, remove the power cable from the printer.
    2. Remove the left-end cover from the printer.
    3. Check all the connections on the Electronics module and reseat as necessary.
    4. Reconnect the power cable and turn the printer on.
    5. If the error re-occurs, continue with the remaining steps.
    6. Replace the Power supply (refer to pg. 8-52 of the 500/800 Series Service Manual).
    7. Following replacement, turn the printer on and attempt to verify functionality.
    8. If the problem persists replace the Electronics module (refer to pg. 8-24 of the 500/800 Series Service Manual).
    9. Following replacement, turn the printer on and verify functionality.

Verifying printer functionalityback to table of contents

  1. Turn the printer on.
  2. Allow initialization to complete.
  3. Load media into the printer.
  4. From the main front-panel menu, select the Ink menu and press ENTER.
  5. Select Troubleshooting and press ENTER.
  6. Follow the instructions on the Front panel.
  7. Following a successful Troubleshooting print, printer functionality is verified.
