Troubleshooting stepsback to table of contents

If parts are replaced or fixed in any of the steps listed below, attempt to verify printer functionality by turning the printer on and printing internal test prints. If functionality is verified, no additional parts should be replaced.

  1. The printer has detected that one or more of the ink valves have popped out during refilling, or the sensor is not functioning properly.
  2. Open the left cover.
  3. Check if any valve connectors have popped out, reseat if needed.
  4. Press the affected ink valve sensor in while watching the front panel display to change to a steady, solid square. If the square remains empty continue with Step 8. If the square does change to a solid, steady square continue with Step 5.
  5. Ensure the plastic tip has not been bent out of place (bend tip forward if needed).
  6. Attempt to reseat the valve connector.
  7. If the valve will not reseat, replace the problematic ink system.
  8. If problems persist, replace the Refill Assembly (refer to pg. 8-55 of the Service Manual).
  9. Following replacement, perform Service Calibrations C02, C05, and C07 (2500/3500 only).

Performing Service Calibrations or Service Diagnostic Testsback to table of contents

  1. Make sure the printer is turned off from the power switch on the back of the printer.
  2. Hold the Up Arrow key and the Enter key down while turning the printer on.
  1. Once the message "Status/Ready" is displayed on the front panel, press Enter.
  2. Use the Arrow keys to scroll to Utilities and press Enter.
  3. Scroll to Service Tests and press Enter.
  4. Scroll to Service Calibrations or Diagnostics and press Enter.
  5. Use the Arrow keys to scroll through the specific calibrations or Diagnostic Tests and press Enter when the required calibration/test is displayed.
