Troubleshooting stepsback to table of contents

If any of the troubleshooting steps listed below solve the problem, attempt to verify printer functionality by printing the internal PostScript (PS) demo print. If functionality is verified no additional parts should be replaced.

  1. Turn the printer on to verify the system error.
  2. If the printer completes initialization without error, verify functionality by printing the internal PS demo (no parts need to be replaced).
  3. If the error reappears, continue with Step 4.
  4. Turn the printer off, using the power switch on the back of the printer.
  5. Disconnect the HDD Data cable, and the HDD power cable from the hard drive.
  6. Remove the Electronics module cover.
  7. Remove the PostScript SIMM (second slot from the left) and turn the printer on.
  8. The printer should power up without any errors (firmware is OK). If an error occurs replace the Firmware SIMM.
  9. Turn the printer off and reconnect the HDD data cable and HDD power cable to the HDD.
  10. Turn the printer on.
  11. System error 080001 should appear (HDD installed without PS). If so, continue with Step 13.
  12. If the error is different, replace the HDD, HDD data cable and HDD power cable (refer to pg. 8-12 of the service manual).
  13. Turn the printer off, install the PS SIMM and disconnect the HDD cables.
  14. Turn the printer on.
  15. System error 090004 should appear (PS installed without HDD). If so, continue with Step 17.
  16. If the error is different, replace the PS SIMM.
  17. Reconnect the HDD data and power cables.
  18. Power the printer on and verify functionality.
  19. Re-install the Electronic module cover.

Performing Service Calibrationsback to table of contents

  3. Scroll to Service Tests and press Enter.
  4. Scroll to Service Calibrations and press Enter.
  5. Use the Arrow keys to scroll through the specific calibrations and press Enter when the required calibration is displayed.
