Troubleshooting stepsback to table of contents

  1. Clean the electrical contacts on the carriage and cartridges with a lint-free cloth, dampened with water. Allow the electrical contacts to dry before continuing.
  2. Reinstall the ink cartridges and see if they work. If problems persist, follow the remaining steps.
  3. Troubleshoot the ink cartridges one at a time (with the other one removed). If the printer rejects the cartridge, a "Replace pen message" appears that corresponds with either the left or right pen. Replace the failing pen with a new one and check whether that resolves the issue. If problems persist, continue with the remaining steps.
  1. If cleaning contacts and replacing the ink cartridges does not solve the problem, replace the carriage and trailing cable, as detailed below.

Accuracy calibrationback to table of contents

  1. Use a sheet approximately 24 x 36 inches, or roll media. For the best results for an Accuracy calibration, use a polyester/matte film.
  1. Load the media. If using D-size media (24 x 36 inches) load the short edge as the leading edge in 24-inch models, and the long edge as the leading edge for 36-inch models. E-size media (36 x 48 inches) can also be used on 36-inch models.
  2. Press ENTER at the Status display.

  7. Wait until the Remove media/Continue message displays, then remove the media.
  8. Press the DOWN arrow to Continue. The Create plot/Measure plot message appears.
  9. Press the DOWN arrow to select Measure Plot.
  10. Rotate the plot so the edge with arrows points to the leading edge. Reload the plot with print side down.
  11. The printer will load the plot and measure the alignment marks using the Edge sensor on the pen Carriage.
  12. Press the DOWN arrow to continue when the Calibrate done/Continue message appears and the plot is fed out. The Accuracy calibration is now complete.
  13. Verify printer functionality. Perform media loading procedure with roll and sheet (preferably larger than 8.5 x 11) media, two times each.
